The starting recreational daily vessel limit for 2017 is set at 2 fish 27″-47″ AND 1 fish 47-73. The northern trophy category is open for 1 fish per season 73″ plus. Charter boat is 3 fish 27-47 and 1 fish 47-73
The commercial catch control measures are not yet in place. The ABTA is going to recommend a 5 fish limit with a hope for nimble regulatory action if catch is again causing market glut and premature quota fulfillment. For guys who did not fish George’s , last years 5 fish limit hurt inshore fisherman by causing a premature end of the season while fishing was superb. Hopefully we can get it right by utilizing our quota completely while also obtaining value for the fish. I doubt anybody wants to see the fish sold for $3.
